This is Morgan Kash, our soils expert.
He has located and certified more than thirty sites for septic drainfields
on the property. The backhoe is used to dig pits to determine if the
soil is suitable. Since the number of drainfields determines the number
and size of the homes, this is important work. |

It turns out that Proximity is located right in a transition
between two types of geology. This means that there is lots of good
soil for drainfields. Almost every lot will come with a four bedroom
drainfield capacity. In terms of water usage, one bedroom is equal
to two people, so every house should be able to handle up to eight
people living in it. Some of the larger lots have drainfields certified
for six or seven bedrooms (12-14 people). |

The pits Morgan digs are several feet deep. This allows
him to determine the type of soil and it's percolation capacity. He
also insures that there isn't rock just below the surface. High percolation
soils, no rock, and large drainfield areas mean high capacity. Capacity
can be boosted further by installing a low pressure system. |

We've drilled eight new test wells. HSI Geotrans has
tested the quailty of the water and well interaction. The results are
good, i.e., the wells don't effect each other. This means that the
wells are drawing from different sources of water and are unlikely
to draw down each other or our neighbor's wells. |
